Watch Your Credit Card!

A fraudulent practice to watch out for is called SKIMMING. This is the sleight-of-hand practice of swiping your credit card for a second time through a hidden credit card machine under the counter. This second swipe gives the con artist all the details he or she needs to steal money from your credit account, or even to create a new credit card just like yours. You can then be left with a credit account charged all the way up to the limit. Meanwhile, you're left wondering what happened because you never lost your credit card!

It is simple to avoid skimming. When you give your credit card a salesperson in payment for goods or services, keep your eye on your card at all times until you get it back. Don't be distracted by anything while the card is in someone else's hand.
